The Woodvalley neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland is well known for its well-established trees, friendly neighbors, and midcentury-modern ranch homes. Along with those features, though, comes a not-so-great feeling of every home looking pretty much the same – both inside and out.

So what do you do when you just love the neighborhood… but not necessarily the house?

Well, that’s where I come in!

Recently, some empty-nester clients reached out to me because they wanted to create a one-of-a-kind home with their newly-purchased (but totally outdated) house in Woodvalley.

They loved where the house was, but not the house itself – and ultimately wanted to ensure that it reflected their taste and lifestyle.

The home hadn’t been updated since it was originally constructed in 1959 and was in dire need of upgrading. This called for a near-total demolition of the home – including most of the foundation – with the exception of three exterior walls.

The couple wanted an open space for hosting family and friends, as well as a home that showcased their unique personalities… and boy did they get it!

We created an open floor plan with a custom kitchen and upgraded electrical, plumbing, and lighting.

The interior design incorporated reclaimed steel beams from a local factory and a glass garage door – talk about one-of-a-kind!

The clients were ecstatic:

“When my husband and I bought this house we knew it would take a world-class team to turn it into our dream home and we are so thankful Wendy took on this project!

From the ceiling lights to the flooring, she helped us create a home that was truly unique while making it as simple as possible to make decisions, meet deadlines, and stay married in the meantime. :)

We love every inch of our new home and know it wouldn’t have been possible without Wendy’s help – thank you!”

If you’ve got a house (or recently found a new one) in an area that you love, but you’re just not in love with the house itself – let’s talk.

You can have the best of both worlds – a home that suits your needs, reflects your personality, is open-concept with lots of storage, and is one you’ll be proud to share with family and friends… AND in a neighborhood that you actually want to be in!
